There are two ways into a room
Create a room
In Online Match, choose a nickname, game mode, timer, and round count. After Create Room, share the generated `CQ-` code or invite link. Only the host can start the game.
Join with a code
Choose Join Room and enter the four-character room code plus your player name. An invite link can carry the room information automatically.
Wait until every player appears in the room list. A room may stop accepting new participants after the game starts.
Room modes do not reward the same result
- Score
- The player with the most points after a 90-second round leads.
- First Answer
- The first valid answer within 45 seconds wins the round. A fully revealed name cannot win.
- Pick
- Players choose from four clubs, and those choices determine the round pairing.
- World Cup
- Find footballers who satisfy both the club and senior national-team condition.
Everyone sees the same round after the draw
The active pairing and round timer follow the room state returned by the server. Valid answers are attributed to players; when the round ends, the result and total score update. The host controls the next round or match.
- If the connection drops briefly, try returning with the same room code.
- In First Answer, accurate spelling matters as much as speed.
- In Pick mode, consider what your opponent may know, not only how many answers a club has.
Why does validation depend on server state?
An online round should not expose its active answer list to the client, and its timer needs one authority. The Crossbar Quiz room API distributes the visible room state while answer and timer decisions remain part of the room flow.
Entering the same footballer twice is a duplicate. A near-spelling warning is not a score; the answer must match a valid record.
If a room does not open, check in this order
- Confirm the four characters after the `CQ-` prefix.
- Check that the host has started the game and the room is still open.
- After refreshing, open the invite link again.
- If the problem continues, email the room code, approximate time, and browser information.
